Stockholm, March 12 (Hibya) – According to the news of The Haitian Times newspaper, Haitian Prime Minister and Interim President Ariel Henry resigned.
According to the newspaper, the administration in Haiti will be assumed by the Transitional Presidential Council.
The council will consist of seven people, two of whom are private sector representatives.
Criminal gangs have raided prisons and attacked government buildings in the capital Port-au-Prince in recent weeks.
Rebellious criminal gangs demanded Henry's resignation, and the prime minister could not return to Haiti from his visit to Kenya due to the siege of the airport in Port-au-Prince.
Henry came to power in Haiti in 2021 following the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. Although he did not come to power through elections, Henry was reluctant to give up power despite the growing chaos and discontent in Haiti.
